FAQ

  • Retiro Design Co.'s full-service interior design is a complete, end-to-end experience for San Francisco and Bay Area homeowners. We begin with an in-depth consultation to understand how you live, what you love, and what your home needs. From there, we develop a cohesive design concept — including space planning, material and finish selection, color palettes, lighting design, and custom furnishings — and manage every detail through to final installation and styling. Whether you're refreshing a single room or reimagining your entire home, our full-service approach is designed to be seamless, stress-free, and deeply personal.

  • We guide clients through every phase of the renovation process — from the initial design concept through contractor coordination, procurement, and final installation. After our intake consultation, we develop a detailed design plan and act as your primary point of contact throughout construction, ensuring decisions stay aligned with the design vision, the timeline, and your budget. Our role is to take the complexity off your plate so you can focus on the outcome, not the logistics.

  • Both — and everything in between. For clients who love their home but want to elevate it, our furnishings and decor service provides a curated, cohesive look without a full renovation. We source premium furniture, textiles, lighting, art, and accessories through our trade vendor network and showrooms not available to the general public, then handle all placement and styling for a polished, finished result. It's an ideal option for new homeowners, recent movers, or anyone ready to make their space finally feel complete.

  • As involved as you'd like to be. Some clients want to weigh in on every decision; others prefer to hand off the process entirely and arrive at a finished home. We adapt to your preferred level of involvement, what stays consistent is clear communication, regular updates, and a design process that respects your time. Our job is to make this easy for you, whatever that looks like.

  • It's a design philosophy that prioritizes restraint over trend, and livability over spectacle. Ritu Nagpal — born and raised in California, and shaped by her Indian-American heritage — brings a sensibility that balances warmth, texture, and calm intention. Her spaces feel elevated without feeling decorated: there's nothing superfluous, and nothing cold. The influence of California's sun-washed palettes and architectural diversity runs through her work, as does an eye for pieces and materials that age beautifully and feel genuinely personal. Quietly refined means a home that's distinctive without announcing itself.

  • Absolutely (we are currently working on a project in Manhattan). If you are outside the Bay Area, please reach out directly to see if it’s a fit.
